Dans le cadre du Groupe Coimbra, Il fut décidé en 2016 de créer un master dans le domaine de Peace & Conflict Studies. La conception du projet débuta en 2018 et huit universités participent désormais au Coimbra Group Master Initiative in Peace and Conflict Studies (CGMIPC) : Aarhus, Coimbra, Galway (Université Nationale d’Irlande), Grenade, Groningen, Iéna, Poitiers et Vilnius.

L’initiative du Groupe de Coimbra vise à contribuer à l’internationalisation des formations et à offrir aux étudiants le meilleur point d’entrée possible dans le domaine de l’analyse des comportements violents et non violents en sciences sociales, afin de mieux comprendre le monde contemporain et les situations de conflit actuelles.

Les étudiants peuvent se déplacer entre les universités partenaires en utilisant le programme de mobilité E+ afin d’acquérir des connaissances spécialisées, d’être exposés à différentes approches et d’explorer divers contextes culturels dès le début de leurs études universitaires.

La réussite du programme CGMIPC est récompensée par un certificat délivré par les universités d’accueil et d’origine. Les universités participant au CGMIPCS bénéficient également de leurs propres liens avec des universités partenaires dans différentes régions du monde (Afrique, Amérique latine, Asie). Cela ouvre aux étudiants diverses possibilités de stages et de recherches pour leur thèse. Ainsi, le CGMIPCS peut fournir aux étudiants une très bonne base pour une carrière dans la coopération internationale et dans les organisations internationales. Une conférence annuelle sur le thème de la paix et du conflit est également envisagée au sein du réseau des partenaires universitaires du Groupe Coimbra.

In the framework of the Coimbra Group, it was decided in 2016 to create a master’s degree in Peace & Conflict Studies. The design of the project started in 2018 and eight universities are now participating in the Coimbra Group Master Initiative in Peace and Conflict Studies (CGMIPC): Aarhus, Coimbra, Galway (National University of Ireland), Granada, Groningen, Jena, Poitiers, and Vilnius.

The Coimbra Group initiative aims to internationalize the training and to offer students the best possible entry point into the field of violent and non-violent behaviour analysis in the social sciences, to understand better the contemporary world and current conflict situations.

There is the possibility to move between the participating universities by using the E+ mobility programme to achieve specialist knowledge, exposure to different approaches and explore different cultural backgrounds. Successful completion of the CGMIPC programme is rewarded with the Coimbra Group Certificate, issued by the receiving and sending Universities.

The participating universities in the CGMIPCS also benefit from their own links to partner universities in different countries in Africa, Latin America, and Asia. This opens diverse possibilities for students for internships and thesis research. The CGMIPCS can provide students with a very good basis for a career in international cooperation and in international organizations (international dimension). A conference on the topic of the peace and conflict is also expected to take place in one of the partner universities on a rotation basis each year.

The CGMIPC will organize each year a joint Intensive Programme (E+ Short Blended Programme) for all students participating in the network, which is a valuable interactive learning experience. It is also linked to the idea of creating an annual Coimbra Group Summer School on a specific topical issue in Peace and Conflict.
